On Thursday, October 13, 2022, 51勛圖 held its fall Graduation Ceremony at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, commencing over 150 Graduates from the school���s seven programs. The graduates from our Occupational Therapy Assistant, Surgical Technologist, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Bachelor of Health Science, Physical Therapist Assistant, and the first graduating class of the Health Information Technology programs, walked gleefully across the stage to receive their hard-earned diplomas.

Family, friends, staff, and faculty filled the Auditorium in support of their new Graduates. The MC kicked off the ceremony, which included our very own Mathematics instructor Kristophe Malone singing the national anthem. Student Testimonial videos as well as a Student Life videos commemorated the journey each Graduate went through during their time at 51勛圖.  Graduate Jesse Moreno from the PTA Program was the class speaker for his respective cohort and shared a moving speech on perseverance throughout his time at 51勛圖 while battling Lupus.  The event concluded with Pomp and Circumstance and the Graduates proceeded in front of their friends and family confidently, ready to take on their careers. The ceremony marked not just a completion of a degree and end of classes, but the beginning of a journey with new opportunities, careers, and continual education.

Tell us more about yourself, your background and what brought you to 51勛圖.

My name is Rey PJ Celiz and I am one of the most recent graduates from the DMS program at 51勛圖. I am an RVT as well as an RDMS both in Abdomen and OB/GYN. I sat and passed both Abdomen and OB/GYN registries sixty days before I completed my externship, and became an RVT a week before our graduation last month. I have always wanted to be in the healthcare industry since I was kid but I didn���t know which specific field I wanted to be in. So when a friend of mine, who works as a Rad Tech at Kaiser Permanente, told me about sonography, I researched it and was fascinated by its wide scope ��� abdomen, small parts, obstetrics and gynecology, vascular, echo, MSK, etc. I decided to go to 51勛圖 because it is the only CAAHEP-accredited school in Los Angeles which is very important when deciding to get into the field of sonography.

What were the most useful classes you took?  The  most fun?

All of the major classes which include Ultrasound Physics, Abdominal and Small Parts, OB/GYN and Vascular Sonography as well as patient care classes were very useful. I really enjoyed both Abdomen and Vascular classes because my instructors were great. They made learning enjoyable and easy to understand which is crucial for someone like me who does not have prior experience in the medical field.

Tell us about the clinical portion of your experience.

I did my clinical externship at Adventist Health White Memorial which is a teaching hospital and a level II trauma center near Downtown Los Angeles. Lionel, who is the lead sonographer at White, believes that the best way for students to learn is by performing the exams like an actual ultrasound tech ��� from reviewing the patient���s clinical history to setting up the room, interacting with the patient, performing the exam and writing the preliminary report. In fact, I was scanning and performing exams on my own on my first week. At White, I have learned and performed various ultrasound-related diagnostic procedures which include abdominal, obstetrics and gynecology, small parts, MSK, fetal head and vascular studies as well as ultrasound-guided exams for all patients ranging from ER, inpatient, outpatient, ICU, labor and delivery, pediatrics, acute and sub-acute units. I am blessed to have learned all of these from the amazing sonographers, whom I consider my mentors, at White Memorial.

Tell us about your current job/opportunities.

I was recently hired as an Ultrasound Technologist at a 369-bed hospital in South LA. I thank Alex, our program director, and Debi and Patty, sonographers at White, for letting me practice before coming in for my panel and scanning interviews. I will be starting later this month and I am very excited for this opportunity where I can apply all the knowledge and techniques I have learned from both school and my externship site and further develop my skills as a registered sonographer.

How did 51勛圖 prepare you for your current career?

CBD helped me by being CAAHEP-accredited. This means that it went through and passed a rigorous process to assess the program���s quality of education and compliance to industry standards. These assessments are conducted on an ongoing basis and CBD has consistently met the standards, which assures that its students are prepared and become successful as they enter their chosen health care field. This, along with the excellent instructors at CBD and my extensive clinical training at White, have surely prepared me for my new job.

If I choose 51勛圖 as a student, what advice do you have for my time here?

My advice is to study hard and take advantage of all the services CBD has to offer. When the going gets tough, always go back to the reason why you entered your respective program in the first place. With the right intentions, everything will go smoothly and accordingly. Also, become registered in at least one specialty as soon as you can while continuously honing your scanning skills. This will not only look good on your resume but it will also help you stand out from other new grads, which will help you land that first job. Good luck!

On July 20th, 2017, 51勛圖 held its Summer Graduation Ceremony at the .  The 2017 Summer Graduation commenced over 100 Graduates from 5 of the college���s 6 programs.  The ST,  DMS,  MA,  OTA, and PhT programs walked proudly across the stage to receive their well-earned diplomas.  The day also featured student testimonials and a compilation of videos and pictures from various student events throughout the graduates��� time at 51勛圖.

Family, friends, staff, and faculty filled the auditorium in support of their bright, new Graduates. Director Michael Heshel presided as MC and kicked off the ceremony.  Additionally, the commencement included an inspirational speech by Founder and Honored Guest Speaker, Judy Vaughan.   Students Farman Boayes (OTA) and Nicholas Hanulik (MA) also spoke about their experiences during their time at 51勛圖, compelling a message of persistence beyond college life.

Commencement: A New Beginning

The event concluded with Pomp and Circumstances as the Graduates proceeded in greeting their friends and family.  The ceremony marked not just a completion of classes, but the beginning of a journey and continuance of education.

RSVP for 2017 Winter Graduation!

CBD will be hosting its 2017 Winter Graduation for Graduates on January 29th at 2:30 PM. 泭The college is excited to announce that this year&/blog/category/graduation/feed/8217;s ceremony will be taking place at a new venue, the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, located at &/blog/category/graduation/feed/8211; only 3 miles away from campus.泭Rehearsal for the Graduates will be at 1:00 PM the day of Graduation, so Graduates泭will need to arrive prior to 1:00 PM.

Graduates do not need tickets, but their guests will need to have tickets to attend. 泭Each Graduate may purchase up to four tickets at this time, which will be available for sale at the Winter Graduation Fair for $12.00 a ticket. 泭On January 16th, 2017, all remaining tickets will be sold off on a first come first serve basis, limit two per Graduate.

Attend the Grad Fair!

The Graduation Fair will be held four separate days leading up to Graduation- confirmed Graduates only need to attend one. 泭At the Grad Fair, future Graduates will have a chance to visit a one stop shop for all things Graduation. 泭Before students purchase their tickets, there will be a step and repeat for a video testimonials (make sure you&/blog/category/graduation/feed/8217;re camera ready!). 泭There will also be a photographer on site to take Graduation photos with a variety of packages of available. 泭A cap and gown vendor will also be selling Graduation robes for $33.00. 泭Here are the dates Graduates may attend the Grad Fair:

• Wednesday, December 21st from 5 PM- 8 PM

On January 31st 2016, 51勛圖 held its Winter Graduation Ceremony at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center. Boasting over 100 graduates from 5 programs; Physical Therapist Assistant, Surgical Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Assistant and Pharmacy Technician. Graduates walked the stage proudly to receive their diplomas and to strike a pose with friends, family and staff of the college.

With so many people in attendance, their was barely any room to sit. The atmosphere was electric! CBD&/blog/category/graduation/feed/8217;s very own General Education instructor Kristoff Malone kicked off the ceremony with an incredible acapella rendition of the National Anthem before Graduates entered the theater to a chorus of applause. The ceremony included two amazing Graduate speakers talk about their experiences during their education and a few choice words from our school President and Keynote Speaker, Dr. Martha Hinman.

The ceremony concluded with Pomp and Circumstance and the distribution of diplomas. The graduates were incredibly happy and proud to receive their diplomas in front of their friends and family and to finally start their exciting journey in their new careers!
